A highly successful childcare project first piloted in Rhondda Cynon Taf in 2002 has now been launched across the whole of Wales. The Genesis Project, funded by the European Social Fund Objective One, has achieved monumental success by providing free or subsidised childcare, advice and guidance to parents wishing to access adult learning opportunities or return to work. The project, one of the largest of its kind, offers high quality care and a stimulating environment for children and the prospect of embarking on new training and career development opportunities for parents.
Where previously childcare costs may have been prohibitive, the Genesis project could now assist many of the 11,000 women currently unemployed in the Rhondda Cynon Taff area to access exciting training and development courses. Quality training increases the chances of parents gaining meaningful employment, leading to a more fulfilling and prosperous career path for the future, and in turn greater self esteem for the individual.
The success of the project has in part been due to the services received from Qualtech, South Wales' premier training and service provider based in the prestigious QED Centre on the Treforest Industrial Estate. The company provided a comprehensive training programme for employees at Genesis Community Day Nurseries which resulted in the Tylortown branch achieving the Investors in People Award. Karen Weir of Genesis Day Nurseries praised Qualtech's expertise “ The advice and support from Qualtech has been exceptional. The training was delivered to a very high standard and has proven extremely beneficial for individuals and for the team as a whole .”
Established since 1988 Qualtech has grown from strength to strength and offers one of the widest ranges of training courses in the country. The company's training sectors range from traditional vocational training courses including NVQ programmes, Modern Apprenticeships, food hygiene and health and safety to business skills based initiatives which include HR and IT consultancy, business start up advice, equal opportunities projects and better business practices.
The company practises what it preaches -not only advising it's clients on the many benefits of training but proactively encouraging it's own employees to develop within the organisation. This has resulted in Qualtech being the first company of its kind to be recognised as an Investor in People, a prestigious award which they have since received a further four times.
Qualtech's Marketing Manager Emily Allison advised on the importance of employee development: “ People are one of the most valuable assets of any organisation. Knowledge gained from effective training programmes is an important commodity which can increase organisational effectiveness through improved productivity, quality, and customer relations”
Qualtech serves both the public and private sector from SME's through to multinationals, boasting a wide range of esteemed organisations amongst their client base including the Welsh Development Agency, Ministry of Defence, Ford Motor Company and National Britannia.
