The Small Firms Enterprise Development Initiative (SFEDI) has developed the Business Support NVQ to meet the needs of individuals who undertake business support activities.
AIM OF THE QUALIFICATION
The aim of this qualification is to assess candidates' ability to apply the knowledge and skills required in the performance of a wide range of activities normally required of those offering business support services to clients who are setting up or developing small scale businesses. Candidates will be maintaining effective business relationships, assisting clients to analyse their business and encouraging and supporting clients to implement changes to their business.
WHO IS THIS QUALIFICATION FOR?
This qualification is intended to reflect the work of candidates who undertake business support activities, working with individuals who are setting up or developing small scale enterprises. This qualification is suitable for candidates who:
- have advisory relationships with clients
- are involved in small business support
- advise clients to help them meet their business needs
- are in an advisory job role i.e. small business advisor.
UNIT TITLES
To gain a full Business Support NVQ with Qualtech, candidates are required to complete 8 mandatory units as outlined below.
Mandatory Units
- Maintain effective business support relationships with clients (BS1)
- Help the client to analyse the business and decide the way forward (BS2)
- Enable clients to implement changes in their business (BS3)
- Encourage business support clients to act for themselves (BS4)
- Develop business support networks to provide access to information and other resources (BS5)
- Evaluate the quality of your own practice in business support (BS6)
- Develop your own ability to provide business support (BS7)
- Monitor the performance of the business support service (BS8)
