Consumers are becoming more and more aware of the effects of a poor diet and food manufacturing and preparation businesses need to understand the links between diet and health to meet changing customer demands.
Qualtech now offers a course, developed by the Chartered Institute of Health, which promotes the benefits of a well-balanced diet, the impact diet and nutrition can have on health, and the need to cater for a variety of dietary requirements.
WHO IS THIS FOR?
The Level 2 Award in Healthier Foods and Special Diets has been developed to meet the needs of delegates from a diverse range of backgrounds. These may be involved in the selection of menus, recipes and ingredients, for example, school caterers, those working in the care sector, restaurants, hotels, etc. and works canteen staff, or they may be from other catering-related companies such as food manufacturers.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
The training will provide delegates with all the information and advice they need to prepare nutritious food, develop healthier recipes and respond to customer concerns and questions.
CONTENT
The course follows a defined syllabus and is a minimum of 6 hours’ duration. To gain the qualification participants are required to successfully complete a thirty-question multiple choice paper. Topics covered during the course include:
· Introduction nutrition and terminology
· The balance of good health
· Diet and health
· Nutritional requirements of different groups
· Catering for different groups
· Food processing
· Food labelling
The course is delivered at our fully equipped training facilities in the QED Centre or, by prior arrangement, can be delivered at customers’ premises if preferred.
